So, you’ve gone down to surfboard rentals in San Diego and gotten yourself a long board for the day. You paddle out in Pacific Beach and get in the lineup. Next thing you know, you are going down the line, pumping and getting your speed. You should be thinking about getting to the bottom of the wave, behind the foam by fading the wave. That allows you to come from behind it with speed and really eye up the section you want to hit. Then tomorrow when you are hanging out at the surf shop in San Diego, they will not think you are such a newbie out there.
